Océ welcomes you to a world of color at IfraExpo 2006

Made-to-measure solutions for printing newspapers

Océ is showcasing a variety of digital newspaper printing solutions at this year’s IfraExpo, with experts on hand to at the Océ booth (4220) to give live demonstrations of multi-color short-run printing and inline finishing. Other keynote themes are micro-zoning, individualization and the new opportunities for publishers in decentral production with the Océ Digital Newspaper Network.

An overview of what’s in store for visitors:

  • Océ VarioStream 9230

IfraExpo is the first public showing of the Océ VarioStream 9230 doing 3/3 production of newspapers. This continuous-fed digital printing system for recto-verso printing gives customers the added-value option of switching variably between b/w-only printing and b/w printing with one or two additional colors. Delivering prints with the same look and feel as conventional newspapers, the system makes short-run printing a commercially viable opportunity.

  • Inline finishing

Visitors have the chance to see the benefits of a new inline finishing system in action at the booth. The Hunkeler-developed solution integrates with Océ printing systems to deliver substantial productivity gains.

  • Océ Digital Newspaper Network

Océ is the sole manufacturer with a worldwide network of locations printing international editions of daily newspapers. This concept makes short-run printing a viable commercial opportunity – and the newspapers have the same look and feel as the conventionally printed originals. Océ is printing a range of international titles at its booth, including up-to-the-minute editions of the Financial Times, New York Times and Le Monde.

  • Micro-zoning

Experts from Océ are showing new ways of efficiently combining digital and offset printing – for more flexibility, lower costs and closer targeting of readers with selected content and advertising.

  • Individualization

Another highlight is the production of individualized newspapers, assembled automatically to suit the reader’s preferences and produced on the fly.

The trade-fair site is also hosting the Post Expo 2006 between 10 and 12 October, and Océ is represented at this event also. At the joint booth with GMC (hall 8, booth 2040) the company is presenting a line-up of digital printing and document management solutions engineered for enterprises whose print challenges are as varied as their business. The keynote exhibits include the Color on Demand concept and the Océ CPS900 Platinum color printing system, powered by software for personalized image printing. Using the Océ Document Designer Advanced software, Océ experts will be showing efficient ways to personalize, generate and manage business documents for variable data printing.
