Océ paves way for architects to build knowledge base

Brentwood, Essex, 12 September 2011– International architects Zaha Hadid, whose projects include the London Aquatics Centre for the 2012 Olympics, will be focusing on Business Information Modelling (BIM) good practice at a knowledge-sharing forum organised by Océ UK in London on 15 September from 8.30 to 11am.

‘Utilising BIM’ is the theme of the free-to-attend event for architects at Océ’s London office at 1 Angel Court in the heart of the city. BIM is the process of generating and managing building data during its life cycle and involves representing a design as objects – vague and undefined, generic or product-specific, solid shapes or void-space oriented (like the shape of a room), that carry their geometry, relations and attributes.

Simon Johns and Shaun Farrell from Zaha Hadid’s technology team will discuss the challenges faced by implementing a BIM strategy and some innovative ways to maximise investments. Adrian Axelson, a Business Manager for Océ UK, will discuss process software, exploring how people and organisations can reduce risk and automate labour intensive tasks. Other topics will include operational efficiency and supporting a sustainable print strategy.

Richard Turner, Marketing Manager of Océ UK’s Wide Format Printing Systems, said: “As the leading supplier of wide format systems and software solutions in the AEC sector, we understand the challenges faced by the industry. It’s crucial for people to prepare well for the BIM evolution, and this workshop will certainly help.”
