Dear Customer,
Latest News: Paper pulp prices continue to rise to record levels due to recent disruption in global supply
The paper industry has been shaken by a number of recent global events, which have created heavy disruption to the supply of paper.
Strike action at 6 Swedish paper mills and the Finnish port strike has intensified the problems with supply shortages caused by the Chilean earthquake earlier this year. This disruption has caused demand for pulp to exceed supply and manufacturers are now facing much higher raw material costs. These factors have caused a steep rise in paper pulp prices. According to Foex the cost of pulp has risen by over 50% in the last 12 months and we are now approaching an all time high. In reaction to these factors paper mills have recently communicated a number of price increases, further details on these factors can be found using the press links below from The FT, Packaging News, Print Week and Business Week.
Océ are a global player in the paper industry and have been working hard to secure supplies and minimise paper price increases to our valued customers. We have been able to keep these increases down to between 5-8% so far. However, there could be further disruption during the coming summer months. Océ apologise for any inconvenience for these uncontrollable and unprecedented circumstances and we will endeavour to keep you informed of this situation as it unfolds. If you have any questions on how this will affect you, please call your sales contact on 0800 623 623.
Yours sincerely,
